Promise Acres Equine Rescue

Additional Programs

The services offered below are provided as a means to help cover the costs incurred in our equine rescue and rehabilitation operation. All proceeds directly benefit the horses in our care. We have something for everyone, ages 2 to 102, accommodating those who are meeting a horse for the first time to experienced riders; customers or helpful volunteers.

Character Development Programs - Respect, responsibility, empathy, and feelings of self-worth are character traits that are no longer commonly found in the majority of today’s youth. It is well known that in order for a child to do well they have to feel well. They need to have a feeling of value and a sense of responsibility in which to achieve more. When a child is empowered by self worth they not only perform better in school, they also become an example to others.

Promise Acres is a local equine rescue, rehab, and re-homing facility. Every day at our facility we are reminded of how youth with low self-esteem and value turn into adults with these same qualities. Youth and adults who do not find value in themselves often turn to criminal behaviors, and are often violent to both animals and other people. The horses that come through our gates have usually started their journey to us from the hands of an individual as described above. With patience, time, and consistent work we are able to take these fearful, sometimes dangerous horses and revert them back to being safe and trusting mounts who can then be adopted into new, loving homes. For some though, by the time they get to us, it is too late.

How do we fix the cycle of abuse to both animals and people before it is too late? The answer: education and character development. Using horses from our rescue Promise Acres has developed a program on character development. This program focuses on each student’s ability to make their own choices, and on how the choices they make today will forever impact their tomorrow. We outline good citizenship, being ready to learn, respecting others, and finding value in oneself. We believe that if we can impact these areas early on that students will strive to do better and achieve more.

Our presentations can be modified to include your school's Positive Behavior System (PBS). Thus further enforcing the principals established and rewarded at each school. Teaching character development is important. The use of a horse shows the application of these characteristics and makes it a memorable experience.

Promise Acres is currently booking sessions for the current school year. Presentations are offered for a donation towards the horses in our care. The funds received from these presentations go towards the rehabilitation costs of the horses in our care. For more information or to book a session please contact us at 863-202-0307 or 863-453-0731.

Thank you for helping to make a difference in the lives of our children and their impact in our community.

Mommy & Me Pony Time – Held at our facility, this special pony time is recommended for children ages 6 years and younger. We start in a reading circle where we share a special pony tale followed by pony rides for each child, then treat time for the horses with a cup of cut up apples or carrots for your child to share. A great way to share a memorable experience with your child. Also a great field trip for day care and pre-school centers. $5 per child with a $25 minimum. Pack a bag lunch and enjoy the peace and beauty of the property in our picnic area.

Pony Rides - We provide a horse or pony, delivered to your location for church or school festivals, birthday parties, and other special events.  Riders are escorted by a PA handler.  As required by Florida Law helmets will be available for youth 16 years and younger.

One horse or pony is usually suitable for up to 10 children. Additional horses or ponies are recommended for larger groups. There are weight limits on the ponies of 80 lbs and on the horses of 200 lbs. This is to insure the safety of both the children and the horses/ponies.

Call for pricing information. There will be an additional fee for transportation for events that are more than 20 miles from Promise Acres.

Trail Riding Lessons – Don’t want to do circles in an arena? Try out our trail riding lessons. Great fun for an individual or the whole family! We do begin in an arena for safety but once you have a good understanding of how to handle your horse or pony we take it onto the trail! Learn to ride while navigating though our natural Florida landscape. Trail programs offered for beginners through experienced riders.
