Promise Acres
Rescue * Rehab * Rehoming

Promise Acres is a private family owned facility dedicated to helping one horse at a time achieve a better more deserving future.
Many people like the status and appearance of horse ownership, but never fully educate themselves on the cost and care involved. This causes more and more horses to receive substandard or no care resulting in weight loss, damaged hooves, hair loss, parasite infestations, lameness, starvation, abandonment, and sometimes even death.
Horses may also exhaust their potential in a particular field and need to be retrained for something less demanding, such as trail riding, therapy riding, or to just live their lives out as loving companions.
Our goal is to provide the best care possible to neglected, injured, exhausted, or un-needed horses and then in turn place them into knowledgeable and loving homes.
Promise Acres is operated by Jennifer Carnahan with the assistance of her family: Husband - Richard, and Daughters - Ashlee and Meghan.
Jennifer has over 17 years experience in helping animals. She has managed a Humane Society Shelter, worked as a Veterinarian Technician, is a Certified Riding Instructor, and is currently employed as the Coordinator of a local Equine Assisted Therapy Program.
The cost and care of each animal brought into Promise Acres is absorbed by Jennifer and her family. Sales of un-needed tack and supplies are also used to help offset the cost of each horses rehabilitation.
By helping one horse at a time, Promise Acres can not solve the problem of over population, neglect, abuse, or abandonment. However we can make a difference in the life of each horse we take in and the people whose story it touches.
